A Boxing Day trip to Chinatown was hampered by the plague which has decended upon the household. While the chaps had their names and rude phrases lettered onto Chinese scrolls, I sat in a cornerside café watching the wo
rld shelter from an intensifying storm. The consumption of a large plate of chilli crab briefly numbed headaches and weary bones but its effect and the heavy rain allowed only a brief tour of the Sri Mariamman temple. We limped home to feel sorry for ourselves.
