Singapore: Raffles

We sat people watching in Raffles Courtyard bar where according to the website ‘sport shirts, slacks and bermudas teamed with appropriate shoes for the gentlemen are welcomed’.

There were wedding groups, honeymoon couples and over-dressed men and women leaving trails of perfume and cologne. Primary focus however, was a group of ‘singles-club’ misfits (my theory) who sat uncomfortably not talking to each other.

The barmen prepared large trays of Singapore Slings, worth hundreds of dollars given that each glass cost over $25.00 (including tourist tax, window tax, swamp tax, etc). When M & S arrived, we ordered four of the frothy pink cocktails. It had to be done. I doubt that it will be done again.
